When Irish eyes are smiling, it must be because they just had some Jameson Honey Pub Wings at James Joyce Irish Pub. I tried them last week and after my first bite, my eyes were smiling all afternoon.

Located at 1724 E. 8th Avenue in historic Ybor, James Joyce Irish Pub serves authentic Irish dishes and has not only a vast array of Irish whiskeys and scotches, they offer fifty beers on tap. With a focus on local and craft brews, they have one of the best beer selections in Ybor.

I popped in on a warm Wednesday afternoon and was delighted with their scrumptious selection of menu items. My eyes lit up when I saw their Pub Wings with sauces choices of Mild, Medium, Hot, Jameson BBQ, Jameson Honey, Garlic Parmesan and King Bradley’s Ghost Pepper (waiver required). Craving something different, I went with Jameson Honey and was treated to a wing-tastic experience.

Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the Jameson Honey wings were simply stellar. Slightly sweet and with the perfect amount of seasonings, I was impressed with their mouth-watering and unique flavor. Truly finger-licking good, I felt like I hit the jackpot with these wings. Every now and then I get a craving for unique wings and these were beyond satisfying. I enjoyed my wings and took the rest home for dinner. They were just as fantastic after a re-heat.

During my visit, I must say the staff was quite pleasant. I had heard many say that their service is terrible but I found the opposite to be true. It was my first visit and I felt right at home. I was well taken care of and impressed with the bartender’s attention to detail.

I will definitely return to try some of their other items like Drunken Guinness Mussels, Lobster Mac n’ Cheese and Sloshed Seafood Medley. With wings that delicious, I can only imagine how fantastic everything else must be.

Cheers and Happy Wingsday!
