Ginormous Wings at the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill
Happy Wingsday!! I hope you all are enjoying my wing-eating adventures around Tampa Bay. Today’s feature is on a place located in South Tampa that I have been hearing about for months…….the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill. A few of my co-workers at EATS! American Grill LOVE the wings at there and have been urging me to go and try them.
Located at 4556 South Manhattan and a block north of Gandy, the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill is a friendly dive bar with a loyal following and a reputation for great wings. Open 11 am to 1 am Monday thru Thursday, 11 am to 3 am Friday & Saturday and 11 am to 12 am Sunday, the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill is a great place to catch a game, play darts or grab a cold one. They are also known for their Silver Strike Live Bowling Leagues Thursday and Saturday with tournaments on Sundays.
I headed over to the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill this past Sunday and let me just tell you, their wings truly knocked my stilettos off! With your choice of BBQ, Hot BBQ, Mild, Medium, Hot and OMG!, their wings are a force to be reckoned with and I was up for the challenge. Per the bartender’s suggestion, I went with Medium and a side of Blue Cheese. While my wings were being prepared, he let me sample some of the OMG! sauce with a few pretzel rods. WOW!!!!!! It was very spicy, but I really enjoyed it.
When my wings were brought out, I took one look at the plate and said “Holy S*%t!” Not only were the wings ginormous, they smelled incredible. Piping hot and still steaming, I let them cool a bit before sinking my teeth into the mouth-watering wings. Now, these are not wimpy wings by any means. Rather than just a a wingette or a drumette, you get the whole wing. How cool is that?
I was very impressed that they use a plate rather than a basket. The I Don’t Care Bar & Grill may be classified as a ‘dive bar’ but I received nothing less than 5-star treatment. As the wings cooled down I decided to dig in take a bite. The wings were fried just right and the sauce was fantastic. Spicy and packed with flavor, it was some of the best Buffalo sauce I have tasted during my wing-eating adventures. As much as I wanted a cold beer to go with my wings, I stuck with Diet Coke since I was driving.
I was truly impressed with the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill and am anxious to return and try the wings with the OMG! sauce. If you are looking for a laid-back place with excellent wings, stop in at the I Don’t Care Bar & Grill. You just might see me there.
Until next Wingsday………
