Kickin’ Chicken Wings at Red Elephant Cafe
I adore the Red Elephant Café located at 111 South Dale Mabry in South Tampa. Fast, casual and fresh, the Red Elephant Café offers flavorful dishes made with the highest qualities ingredients. With menu selections such as salads, pizza, pasta bowls, rice bowls, wraps and burgers, they offer a nice variety of dishes which appeal to all diners. My favorite item on the menu is their Red Steakhouse Salad which consists of grilled steak on spring mix with red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese and served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I love this salad so much that I order it every visit!
I met my friend Jane for lunch this past week and when I saw that they offered wings, I knew I had to give them a try. With flavor choices of Medium, Hot, Honey BBQ and Teriyaki, they are available both traditional and boneless and served with celery and your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I went with Honey BBQ Wings and my staple Red Steakhouse Salad.
As usual, the salad was fantastic and the steak was grilled to perfection. There is just something about the combination of steak, feta cheese and their balsamic vinaigrette that just makes me smile. I will be featuring more of their menu items in a future post. So now, let me talk about their WINGS!
Plump and juicy, their wings are exceptionally delicious. The sauce coated the wings perfectly and there was just the right amount, thus not requiring me to use a wet-nap after each bite. I love that their Honey BBQ is more on the sweet side since most Honey BBQ sauces I have tried recently lean more toward having a strong BBQ flavor. The presentation of the wings was nice and I loved that they were brought to the table piping hot. The meat was tender and the wings were lightly fried.
If you are looking for a quick place to grab wings in South Tampa, give Red Elephant Café a try. In addition to their regular menu, they offer a catering menu with delivery service. I have had them cater functions at my office and they do a fantastic job.
Until next Wingsday!
