Get Some Tax-Time Relief in Tampa Bay!
With tax day just around the corner, many of us are scrambling to gather receipts and get our returns filed. If you are like me, I am sure you could use a day or evening of fun and relaxation. There are many exciting events going on in Tampa Bay this month and I want to share a few that I am really excited to attend.
’80s Charity Bash, April 13th
As a child of the 80’s, I grew up listening to Madonna, Duran Duran, A Flock of Seagulls, Cyndi Lauper, The Cure and other musicians of that era. Back then, I dressed the part with lace gloves, tons of bangles, huge hair bows and crucifixes galore. Life was so much simpler then and I will admit, I miss the 80’s! On April 13th, Tampa Bay will have the chance to take a trip back in time and help out a great cause benefiting the Jacob’s Touch Foundation at the 80’s Charity Bash. Festivities will take place at the Tampa Yacht Club from 7:30-11:30 pm. This totally awesome event is being hosted by “The South East’s biggest ’80s band, Rubix Cubed” and radio personality extraordinaire, Corey Dylan. April is autism awareness month and the Jacob’s Touch Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3), community based organization in the Tampa Bay area, dedicated to providing CARE to families with children on the Autistic Spectrum. Tickets are just $55 if purchased in advance or $60 at the door and include food, drink, rad music and both live and silent auctions. Break out your best 80’s attire have an awesome time! Ybor Aficionado Days, April 14-15th
Ybor is one of my favorite places to stroll around while admiring some of Tampa Bay’s beautiful historical landmarks. The Sixth Annual Ybor Aficionado Days take place the weekend of April 14th and 15th. At this tasty event you get to sample the best flavors of Ybor in tapas, hors d’oeuvres, antipasti and mesa with over a dozen of Ybor’s top restaurants participating.
2012 Tapas Trail Restaurants include:
- The Bricks
- Columbia Restaurant
- The Don Vicente de Ybor Historic Inn
- Gaspar’s Grotto
- Green Iguana
- The Improv
- JJ’s Cafe
- New World Brewery
- New York, New York Pizza
- Pita Republic
- Shrimp & Company
- Sunday’s Fine Dining (Voted #1 Tapas on the 2011 Tapas Trail)
After Party/ Smoker- 6:30- 9:00 pm
The after party is shaping up to be fantastic! You can enjoy premium cigars, desserts, cafe con leche, and samples of rum, wine, and beer while listening to music at the Italian Club. The winners of the Tapas Trail contest will be announced and door prizes will include Tapas trail restaurant gift certificates and hotel stays.
One of the highlights of the after party will be Riesling tastings from one of my favorite Washington wineries, Chateau Ste. Michelle, as part of their REASON FOR RIESLING TOUR. Guests will be able to taste all three styles of Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling:
- Dry Riesling is clean and crisp and pairs beautifully with seafood (especially oysters), mild cheeses, and all your favorite olives – from smoked Manzanilla olives to meaty kalamatas.
- The #1 selling Riesling in America, Columbia Valley Riesling, is an ‘everyday Riesling’ that complements almost any food. We recommend enjoying with light ceviche or even tangy barbeque.
- Harvest Select Sweet Riesling is perfect with spicy curries or chili-based Thai, Middle Eastern, or Mexican fare, due to its balance of fruit and good acidity.
